What you get

A platform, not a boss.

Targowords is not an interpreting agency looking over your shoulder. We provide the basic infrastructure and you do what you do well.

Your rate

Set your rate between € 75–195 per hour, phone € 1.80–2.60/min. We add no markup — the client pays your rate plus our commission.

Weekly payout

Every Friday your week’s revenue is paid out via Stripe Connect. No 60-day invoices, no chasing payments.

No no-show risk

Client pre-authorises € 250 before session start. If the client doesn’t show: you get the minimum fee, no questions asked.

Travel reimbursement

Automatically calculated based on distance from session address to your city (€ 1.00/km, per Tax Office guidelines).

Flexible decline

Requests come in, you have 20 minutes to accept. Nothing obligatory: decline by not responding. No penalty.

Complaint protection

If a complaint is filed you get 5 days to appeal, with your own explanation. No automatic verdict in favour of the client.

How to start

Three steps to your first assignment.

Apply

Fill in the form: languages, sector experience, RBTV number, availability. Takes about 12 minutes.

What we need: ID, RBTV statement (less than 6 months old), IBAN, criminal background check for criminal law.

Verification

We verify your RBTV registration, request a reference contact at a municipality or court, and conduct a brief intake call.

Processing time: 5-10 business days. You get status updates via email.

Profile live

Complete your profile with sector specialty and availability. Clients can match you — first request usually within 48 hours.

First session within 7 days of going live: guaranteed minimum fee of € 75.

FAQ from interpreters

What interpreters always ask.

Yes. We only accept interpreters listed in the Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (RBTV). For criminal law, a valid background check is also required. Without RBTV registration we cannot activate a profile.

Via Stripe Connect — you provide your IBAN and KvK number once, then every Friday the week’s revenue lands in your account. Annually you receive a statement for your tax return. We do NOT withhold tax; you are responsible for VAT and income tax yourself.

Yes, fully. In the app you can set availability per day, per part of the day, or even ad-hoc. Clients only see interpreters available at the requested time. No sanctions for unavailability.

You get 5 business days to appeal, with your own version of events. A Targowords moderator reviews both sides independently. If the appeal is upheld, the session fee is paid out and your rating stays intact.

You can add multiple language combinations to your profile. Targowords matches on exact combination (e.g. Polish → Dutch, not Polish → English). For rare languages (Tigrinya, Dari, etc.) there is often high demand.

Targowords holds a € 250 pre-authorization before session start. On client no-show, you receive the minimum fee (€ 75 or 1 hour at your rate, depending on session type). No discussion.

Never without explicit consent from both parties. In the standard session nothing is recorded. For video sessions where recording is wanted (e.g. legal), you see a clear opt-in before session start.

The form itself about 12 minutes, verification 5-10 business days. You can fill the form partially and come back later — we save in between.
